How long have you worked at FIRC?
“10 years“
What is your role, and what does a typical day look like for you?
“Financial Empowerment Caseworker My day usually starts by checking emails I head into the office, say good morning to the front desk (usually with a little “I’m tired today” honesty everyday), and then settle into my desk to get ready for clients. Of course, no morning is complete without tea ,or peanut butter on a banana and some laughs with coworkers. We catch up on life, swap stories, and share work updates before diving into the day. By noon or 1:00 p.m., it’s lunch break time and trust me, I really need it to recharge. Afterward, it’s back to keeping client data up to date and finishing my tasks. Around 4:30 p.m., when my eyes have had enough of staring at the screen, I like to walk around, chat with colleagues, and end the day on a lighter note before heading out. I usually exit through the front door asking someone to lock up ( Joaquin & Keira) but if no one’s around… let’s just say the old cold room (shh!) is my sneaky backup exit.“
What inspired you to join FIRC?
“I was inspired to join FIRC because I wanted the opportunity to help the community. Growing up, I remember my parents going through struggles because of the language barrier and I remember support from compassionate people who genuinely cared, and I wanted to be that person for others someone empathetic and happy to assist individuals and families as they navigate their struggles.“
What’s your greatest FIRC memory so far?
“Running after the Elote guy and gathering all together at the front desk and seeing Brianne so happy eating her mango lol“
What do you love most about working with the community?
“I love being a person the community can trust, someone they feel heard by, and advocating for them to help improve their lives. It’s incredibly rewarding to support clients through their challenges and celebrate their successes, knowing I’ve made a positive difference in their journey.“
How do you see your work making a difference in people’s lives?
“By being a trusted advocate and an immigrant like many of my clients, I can empower them to feel heard and supported, and show that someone genuinely cares about their well-being.“
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
“I love adrenaline, I even went skydiving! But I’m actually scared of heights.”
What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend in Summit County?
“I love spending weekends either ATVing and enjoying the beauty of nature or staying home with my family, relaxing and making quality memories together.“
Coffee or tea (or something else!)—what keeps you going during busy days?
“Tea and peanut butter for sure!“
