Welcome to the Sol Center

POSTPONED: Join us for Sol Fest

Join FIRC and Building Hope as we open the doors to our new shared home, the Sol Center!

Sol Fest is a community celebration to mark this exciting new chapter, bringing together neighbors, partners, and friends to connect, explore the space, and celebrate what this means for Summit County.

When? June 5th date has been postponed. Stay tuned for new date and time!

Where? Sol Center, 24 Rapid Dr. Breckenridge CO

The Sol Center represents a shared investment in our community — built through collaboration and resource sharing to create systems that work for the people who rely on them.

The space is shared by FIRC and Building Hope, two nonprofits that share a commitment to community well-being. Building Hope was incubated at FIRC, making this shared space a natural reunion — bringing aligned missions back together to better serve the community.

This collaboration reflects a shared understanding that meeting basic needs, supporting well-being, and strengthening stability are connected. When systems work together, people are better supported.

Where Support Comes Together

The Sol Center was created with working families in mind — supporting the very people who keep our community running. Many community members juggle long, variable, and nontraditional work hours, which can make accessing support difficult.

By bringing FIRC programs together in one place, the Sol Center makes it easier to access food and support in a single visit. Sharing space with Building Hope helps keep mental health connected to this work, strengthening awareness and coordination, while meeting everyday needs.

When planning the Sol Center, we listened closely to the community and to the people who use our services. The majority of our clients shared that they work in Breckenridge and wanted support to be closer to where their days already take them. Their input played an important role in shaping where this space would live.

The Journey to the Sol Center

Along the way, there have been many firsts — early visioning, groundbreaking, tours, move-in days, and the first moments of seeing the space come alive with people inside it.

Each step reflects long-standing relationships, shared effort, and a deep commitment to supporting the people who make Summit County home.

With the pandemic came a drastic rise in demand for food, housing, and mental health services. Thirty percent of residents accessed these agencies’ services last year through 8,500 appointments and countless touchpoints, walk-ins, and follow-ups.

People often need various resources to achieve stability. Stigma, fear, and fragmented assistance can stand in the way. A centralized building provides clients with the integrated services of FIRC, Building Hope, and community partners.

built throught collaboration

The Sol Center exists because our community believed in it.

Local governments, community partners, and businesses across Summit County came together to make this space possible — contributing funding, time, and resources with a shared understanding that when the local workforce is supported, the entire community benefits.

This work was also sustained through everyday generosity. Food market shoppers tucked wrinkled dollar bills into envelopes. Neighbors gave what they could. Volunteers offered their time. Many supported this effort quietly and consistently.

Together, the community came together to build the Sol Center — showing what can happen when care, practicality, and shared responsibility guide the work.
